Shockwave for Plantar Fasciitis in Cambridge

Plantar Fasciitis is pain in the heel or the sole of the foot under the arch.

How Shockwave Reduces Inflammation and Stimulates Healing in Plantar Fasciitis

The plantar fascia is a ligament that attaches the underneath of the heel to the five toes. It can become inflamed for any number of reasons including walking on hard surfaces or wearing poor footwear

extracorporeal shockwave is effective in the treatment of plantar fasciitis,  because it causes long term biological changes in the fascia which increase collagen production, stimulate repair and reduce pain.

Examination and Treatment- What to Expect

Your Chartered Physiotherapist will give you a full examination and clinical diagnosis and discuss the findingd in detail. If shockwave is appropriate, and if you agree, you can have the first treatment there and then.

treatment itself takes about five minutes. The Physiotherapist will give you simple exercises to do a few times a day to gently begin loading the tendon. In the long run it is the exercises that manage the condition. and once cured, help to prevent recurrence
