Shockwave for Shoulder Pain in Cambridge
Shoulder pain often comes from the from the rotator cuff tendons or a frozen shoulder. The shoulder becomes very stiff and painful

How Shockwave Therapy Reduces Inflammation and stimulates Healing in the Shoulder
1. Rotator cuff tendons. (Supraspinatus tendinitis) These tendons can form calcium deposits. There is excellent evidence that shockwave breaks down these deposits, reducing pain and improving function. we see this in clinic a lot.
2. Frozen Shoulder. We find in clinic that shockwave can really help the pain from frozen shoulder, but not the range of movement, which comes back by itself in time. Shockwave can be used while you wait for an injection. or maybe you have had an injection that has been unsuccessful.
In all cases we give strengthening and mobilising exercises.
Examination and Treatment-What to Expect
It is important to distinguish pain coming from the shoulder from pain coming from the neck or the nerves.
Following a full examination and clinical diagnosis, your Chartered Physiotherapist will explain the problem and discuss treatment options. If shockwave is appropriate and you agree, you will have your first treatment there and then. Treatment takes around 4-5 minutes.
You will be given simple strengthening and flexibility exercises to help manage the problem.
